OTHER UK PORTS

TOWER HELEN.

This photograph was taken at the Cornish port of Charlestown 19.10.75.

Constructed between 1791 and 1801 by Charles Rashleigh of a local landowning family, the port of Charlestown was originally utilised for the export of copper and the import of coal, later the export of china clay.
Today it has become well known as a film and television location, harbouring a fleet of square rigger ships.
A very pretty historic port, well worth a visit.
Photographs currently shown on this page are from a collection of old slides.
